Our Federal Programs

• • Title I: Provides services for economically disadvantaged students to improve their academic achievement. Through targeted assistance and school-wide programs, we aim to close the achievement gap and ensure all students have access to a high-quality education.
  • Title II: Allocates funds to improve teacher and leader quality through professional development. By investing in our educators, we enhance the overall educational experience and support continuous improvement in teaching and leadership.
  • Title III: Offers instructional support for students with limited English proficiency. Our goal is to help these students achieve English language proficiency and succeed academically.
  • Title IV: Ensures all students have access to a well-rounded education, improves school conditions for student learning, and enhances the use of technology to improve academic achievement and digital literacy.
  • Title V (RLIS): Aims to effectively improve the quality of instruction and student academic achievement, particularly in rural and low-income schools.
  • Extended School Services (ESS): Provides funds for tutoring students who are failing or at risk of failing. Commonly known as “after-school tutoring,” these services offer additional instructional time and support to help students succeed.
  • Title I, Part D Subpart 2: Supports services for neglected and delinquent students and focuses on dropout prevention. Our programs aim to provide these students with the resources and support needed to stay in school and succeed.
  • Title I, Part C (Migrant Education Program): Offers educational services to migrant students and families, addressing their unique needs and helping them overcome challenges associated with mobility.
  • Impact Aid: Assists local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt federal property, such as military bases, or have experienced increased expenditures due to the enrollment of federally connected children.

The mission of the RISD Federal Programs & Grants Department is to effectively manage federal funds to enhance the educational experience and outcomes for all students. We strive to provide equitable access to resources, support high-quality instruction, and foster an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
